Gene Hagenberger was ordained as a minister in the Church of the Brethren in 1983.  He has served as a youth minister, park chaplain, interim pastor, assistant minister, pastor, senior pastor, and has been serving as pastor of the Easton Church of the Brethren since June of 1998.  Gene loves the Easton church and wants to see the church build upon the growth we have experienced together.  Gene is a graduate of Elizabethtown College (B.A., Religion and Philosophy) and Western Maryland College (M.L.A.), attended Drew Theological Seminary, and earned a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education from Shore Health System.  Currently, Gene is a candidate to participate in the Brethren Academy’s “Sustaining Pastoral Excellence” Advanced Foundations of Church Leadership process, a Lilly Endowment Inc. funded series of eight four-day retreats scheduled over 2007-2008, to equip pastors to provide sustained quality leadership.  In the denomination Gene has served as a member of standing committee and chaired nominating committee of standing committee; in the district Gene has served in a number of leadership positions, most recently for two years as chair of the leadership team.  A native of Lewistown, PA, he is married to Jan, and they are the parents of two adult children, Elise and Grant.      

 

Jody Gunn is Minister of Outreach & Nurture at the Easton Church of the Brethren.  She was ordained in Nov. 2005 and has been working at the church part-time since 2001.  Jody is a graduate of the University of Oregon and the Training In Ministry (TRIM) program of the Church of the Brethren.  She has a variety of church experience from interim to team ministry, working mainly with the outreach, program and nurture of congregations.  Jody finds great joy in seeing others come to faith in Jesus Christ and discovering their God-given gifts.  Jody was raised in Oregon, however has called Maryland home since 1990.  She is married to Eric and they have 2 children.
